"Design
is not just about the way things look. Design is also about the way
things are used; how they are communicated to the world; and the way
they are produced." Design is not so much about inventing things but much more about interpreting them. Design deals with products and services that change with needs and circumstances. Design is solving problems creatively leading to sustainable solutions. This roundtable will focus upon the main issues of coordination between designers and organizations concerned to effect change, either in the voluntary or not-for-profit arena. It is a discussion platform to unfold the intervention of design for social impact. Objectives
Who should attend Representatives of Social organizations, Designers,
Architects, Technology people, business people interested in corporate
social responsibility are welcome. The round table will culminate
in a formation of an integrated platform of Facilitators The round table is designed as half-day oral presentations alternated with group discussion. The facilitators will actively interact with the participants to stimulate discussion around the presentations and outline the key points that will be useful for the whole group debate. The facilitators of the round table are Tara Acharya, Associate Director at Rockefeller Foundation, Anna Muoio, Principal of Practice Innovation at Continuum, USA, Sudhir Sharma, Founder Director of Elephant Strategy + Design and Ashwini Deshpande, Founder Director & Principal Designer of Elephant Strategy + Design. Interested designers, NGO representatives,
architects, technologists, corporate foundations and others are requested
to inform their interest to Hrridaysh Deshpande, with a brief note
